This means that it carries some unique prospects that will be highlighted in this material.

One of the most determining factors includes the following:

  1. It has no gluten. This makes it consumable by those with gluten intolerance or coeliac disease which may result in malabsorption and worsen the condition for which the probiotic is being taken.
  2. It contains soya and milk. These two act as prebiotics providing a more conducive environment for the nourishment of the bacteria and bacteria growth. This increases the Colony Forming Units and thus the probiotic advantage to the client. It should be noted however, that the level of milk included is not enough to affect lactose intolerance people.
  3. Its ingredients herewith stated in the sections below, have been made suitable for vegetarians. It does not contain any meat-based product.
  4. It contains more than 7 probiotic strains and not only this but to the tune of double the recommended when choosing a probiotic to purchase. This bacterial cultures have been further proven to survive the high acidity in the stomach.
  5. With regard to the total viable CFU at expiration of shelf life, Bio-Kult guarantees you a 2 year shelf life with the stated count of bacterial culture.
  6. Its packaging and preservation strategies eliminates the need to refrigerate the formulation. This benefit is accrued to the cryoprotected bacteria during the freeze-dry preservation process. In the process, more benefits are attained. The probiotic bacteria in Bio-Kult are enteric-protected and target not needed to formulate enteric-coated pills or tablets. They can therefore colonize the whole gut. The freeze-dry method is also behind the reason for no need of refrigeration facilities in the preservation of this product.
  7. It has been approved and proven to be effective when taken with or 15 – 30 minutes before antibiotics by all age groups and expectant mothers.

Bio-Kult Infantis

What features makes it unique and beneficial?

Like Bio-Kult Advance Multi-Strain Formula, Bio-Kult infantis, in the year 2014 was also named Best New Product by the True Health Magazine which is a free natural magazine in UK pharmacies. You only win when you stand out and this product must sure have done so. Take a look at these specifications that make it stand out from others in the same category.

  1. It is an advanced formula for infants
  2. Its most important constituents include omega 3 and vitamin D3. These are important for the growth and development of the infant with regard to brain development and bone growth and development respectively. Omega 3 also acts as an anti-oxidant to the infant’s metabolic pathways owing to the fact that infants might not have a fully established anti-oxidation process.
  3. It contains 7 strains of live bacteria. This number still beats the recommended number when choosing a probiotic brand to purchase.
  4. It contains Preplex such as Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) and gum acacia. You should note that FOS is a type of prebiotic which promotes the growth and development of cultured bacteria so that they have enough to feed and grow on.
  5. It has no sugar additives or content and no colorants or flavors. Well, this might inflict negatively on the palatability or compliance to the product by the infant but not a major problem.
  6. It is again gluten free making it safe for those with gluten intolerance to benefit from it.
  7. Its content of milk and soya is low such as not to cause any negative impact on lactose intolerant clients.

Who it is for

The Infantis brand is for infants tells the name too.

With reference to some of its contents, DHA and EPA total to more than 1 mg per sachet while Vitamin D3 amounts to 2.5mcg per sachet making it to 50 % of RDA which isn’t bad at all!

Ingredients & Cultures

Ingredients as from the manufacturer’s website include:

  1. Preplex® (fructooligosaccharides (FOS) and gum acacia)
  2. DHA + EPA Powder (source of Omega-3 fatty acid from fish)
  3. Vitamin D3
  4. Lactobacillus casei PXN 37
  5. Lactobacillus rhamnosus PXN 54
  6. Streptococcus thermophilus PXN 66
  7. Lactobacillus acidophilus PXN 35
  8. Bifidobacterium breve PXN 25
  9. Lactobacillus delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricus PXN 39
  10. Bifidobacterium infantis PXN 27

How to use-Directions

Since you will be dosing an infant, ½ – 1 sachet once a day mixed with milk, water or food should suffice. However, it would be wiser to dose in tapering increments until there is tolerance. This tapering method also ensures that side effects felt are not as intense as that of a lower dose. You could choose to start with ¼ of a sachet for young babies.

If you are breastfeeding, you would prefer mixing with some of the milk to deliver it then continue normal breastfeeding. Note that for infants, you would want the doctor’s contact at hand just in case you would need to consult one in case of an overdose or unwanted effects.

Storage

Store at room temperature. There will be no need for refrigeration. As stated earlier, cryoprotection allows it to preserve for long to the tune of 2 years shelf life. However, do not forget to store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.

Bio-Kult Reviews

Multi-strain

Above 700 positive reviews and only 100 critical reviews as at the compilation of this material. While it is super product for treatment of digestive problems, this product has been associated with side effects termed as ‘horrible’ by the negative reviews. Customers have had bloating, heartburn and colonic cramping. Some state that the effects are short-lived.

Generally, based on the positive remarks, it is said to be very effective in its indications, affordable and properly delivered.

Infantis

Not much review has been done on this product. However, a larger percentage relied on the objective feedback from the infant. Some symptoms would not be evident and would be deemed normal for an infant to have, rather in real sense, may be the side effects of the product. While the objective manifestation might be absent, there are negative reviews that indicate wrongful instructing from the manufacturer. There is also no way of measurement when you are told to measure out a ¼ of the sachet.

Candea

This product has been beneficial to those who have been suffering from candida, IBS and acid reflux. Some reviews even attested its activity against rosacea. It has also been proven safe to take during pregnancy from review hearsay.

The fallback has been pinned on the garlic ingredient. Some think that the garlic prevents them from taking the product and even influences the compliance to the same. Side effects take the order of the day with stomach upsets, bloating, constipation and diarrhea being reported.

Generally, the positive reviews win in each platform visited.

Bio-Kult Side Effects

Bio-Kult, as many other probiotics, does not cause much side effects. Actually, most of the unwanted effects are due to a Herxheimer Reaction or die-off effect which is felt after the dose. For instance, the Herxheimer reaction occurs before you start feeling better.

A good example would be nausea resulting from the accumulation of debris of dead bacteria that should be cleared off the gut. When the vomit center in the brain is triggered, it leads to vomiting.

Pathogenic overload would also result in a high dose start-off and this results in the die-off side effect. This normally manifests as bloating or flatulence. It would be wiser to increase the dose in tapering manner in the course of the day. Other symptoms include headaches and flare-ups of previous symptoms.

At times, buildup of toxins produced when the bad bacteria die, and absorbed into the bloodstream, may result in temporary symptoms.

Managing the symptoms would require that you take the recommended dose and not overdose and start with a lower dose then increase as your gut gets used to the probiotic.

To do this, you could start with a ½ a capsule and build up. If you still have side effects following reduction in the dose, stop the probiotic entirely and seek advice from a nutritionist or your pharmacist and start on a new one. Do not jump from one to the other until you have sought some specialists.
